It's October 9th! This date has become significant to me in so many ways.
First of all, it's my parents' anniversary. They have been married for 34 years. Congrats to them!
Also, October 9th is the date of my house closing 4 years ago. 26 years to go - wheeeeeee!
The 3rd reason why October 9th is significant to me is that I've been an employee at Vonage for 5 years. Vonage is the second company I've worked for since college for more than 5 years. I have to say that I learned a lot there and some big life changes have happened since I joined. I'll always remember that I worked at Vonage through Faith's entire life - and received a lot of support from my co-workers there through that time. I was engaged and then married while working at Vonage. Also, as stated above, one year from when I started was when Ron and I closed on the house. Professionally, I crossed over from being in configuration management to being a business analyst. I was glad to make this change because I really enjoy being part of the requirements gathering and solutioning process rather than being someone who has to try to control chaos on the back end of the process. In CM, you don't really have a concept of what the code you're dealing with even does - you just install things in different environments and hope they work.
Anyway, I'm grateful to Vonage for the stepping stone in my career that the company has given to me, as well as the free gifts I have won in the company picnic raffles. And also, that Ron is employed there, too. It is not always a great place to work, but there are great people there, and I'm happy to be a part of it.
